Our Thrusts

To end the hunger and poverty of poor families and communities in the country, Heifer Philippines focuses on the following priority thrusts:

1. Values-based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD).The VBHCD approach helps transform families and build sustainable communities. The approach enlightens and strengthens the values of self-help groups and empowers them to work for their own sustainable and holistic development by helping one another.  Heifer Philippines will implement programs and projects following the VBHCD approach to bring different levels of impact to poor Filipino families

2. Capacity Development. A strong human resource complemented by a highly capable project partners is vital in the implementing VBHCD programs and in attaining Heifer Philippines' vision. Heifer Philippines will give utmost priority and importance to organizational capacity development and improve the technical competencies of its project partners

3. Program Stewardship and Accountability. It is essential for Heifer Philippines to maintain the highest level of accountability and be a responsible steward of its resources. To achieve these, it will develop, improve, and implement appropriate and effective M&E, finance, administrative, and human resources systems and mechanisms

4. Partnership Development. Heifer Philippines works in partnership with various organizations and community groups to bring values-based holistic development to poor families. These partnerships complement Heifer Philippines’ financial, human, and technical resources and further sustain the impacts brought by its projects. As such, Heifer Philippines will strengthen its partnerships with implementing organizations and self-help groups, other like-minded organizations, and donor organizations to sustain and bring more services and support to families and communities by scaling-up programs and projects and even advocacy

5. Advocacy and Networking. VBHCD impacts in the lives of project families will be deeper and more sustained if their social and political structures further strengthen the positive results.  As such, VBHCD impacts will be shared with and spread to decision makers and development practioners. These will encourage their adoption of the VBHCD and can eventually lead to the formulation of policies and actions that will provide more support and service to help strengthen the impacts achieved or spread these to other needy communities. Heifer Philippines' advocacy and networking will be rooted on impact and drawn from the experiences of participating families. Their voice and participation will be involved in all advocacy and networking activities.
